Pictures speak louder than words — but we’d still like to share a few with you. Our renovated outbuilding combines rustic charm with modern comfort. Every detail has been carefully designed: from the peaceful terrace overlooking Penela Castle to the cosy bedroom, which invites you to relax and unwind. And if you look closely, you might even spot the odd trace of Chris’s artistic touch.

Penela is ideally situated in terms of transport links — the A13 motorway is just five minutes away (right next to the shopping centre) and provides quick access to Coimbra, Lisbon and the rest of Portugal. Whether it’s a day trip to the coast or a short break in the capital — you’re always well connected. So you can return afterwards to peace and tranquillity.

Welcome to Chris & Susi’s place! We live and work in Penela, in the heart of central Portugal. Susi makes sure that the house and garden are always spotless and that our guests feel at home from the very first moment. We’ve put our heart and soul into renovating our annexe, which we offer as a peaceful retreat for travellers. Chris is an artist...

...his resin art pieces are created right here on the property and lend our home a very special atmosphere.

We speak German and English — and a bit of Portuguese. To be honest: just enough to say hello politely, not look completely lost in the supermarket, and point towards the castle in an emergency. For everything else, we’d be happy to communicate in German or English!
