A picture is worth a thousand words—but we’d still like to share a few with you. Our renovated outbuilding blends rustic charm with modern comfort. Every detail has been carefully crafted: from the peaceful terrace overlooking Penela Castle to the cozy bedroom that invites you to simply breathe and unwind. And if you look closely, you might even spot a touch of Chris’s artistic flair here and there.

Penela is ideally located in terms of transport links—the A13 motorway is just five minutes away (right next to the shopping center) and offers quick connections to Coimbra, Lisbon, and the rest of Portugal. Whether you’re planning a day trip to the coast or a quick getaway to the capital, you’re always well-connected—making it easy to return to peace and comfort afterwards.

Welcome to Chris & Susi’s! We live and work in Penela, in the heart of central Portugal. Susi ensures that the house and garden are always in perfect order and that our guests feel at home from the very first minute. We offer our renovated outbuilding—a true labor of love—as a peaceful retreat for travelers. Chris is an artist...

...his resin art pieces are created right here on the property and lend our home a very special atmosphere.

We speak German and English—and a little Portuguese. To be honest: enough to offer a polite greeting, avoid looking completely lost in the supermarket, and point to the castle in an emergency. For everything else, we’re happy to communicate in German or English!
